Amerigo Caruso is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padua. His research explores European history in the early modern and modern period. In 2016, he received his PhD at the Saarland University, for which he was awarded the Dr. Eduard Martin Prize.
His dissertation analysed the multiple temporalities and cultural transformations of conservative discourses on nationalism and nation state, comparing Italy and Germany in the mid-19th century. He was a doctoral research fellow at the Leibniz Institute for European History in Mainz, and a postdoctoral fellow at the German Historical Institute in Rome.
